Overview
We established The Explorer Society so that we could keep doing what we love: travelling to some of the most incredible places on Earth and sharing them with you.
As a thank you for sticking with us, we wanted to give our members of The Explorer Society a chance to win a luxury African safari for two, valued at AUD$15,000 per person. This is not available elsewhere online, and is for existing members like you.

Expedition Itinerary
On arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, you will be met at the door of your aircraft with your name on a paging board. Should your aircraft be directed to the apron and not the terminal building, you will be transported to the terminal by bus, where your meet-and-greet representative will be waiting for you as you step off the bus. You will then be assisted through immigration, baggage collection and customs.
You will then meet your driver for your private transfer to the Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff.
The remainder of the day is at leisure to settle in after your journey.
Overnight: Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff - Breakfast
Today is a day at leisure. You may choose to relax at the hotel, enjoy the views from the terraces or continue exploring Johannesburg at your own pace.
Overnight: Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff - Breakfast
This morning after breakfast you will be collected from your hotel for your private transfer back to the airport for your flight to the Kruger Region (flight cost not included).
Upon landing, you’ll be met and transferred by private vehicle to your home for the next few nights.
Sandringham Private Game Reserve tells a story of conservation transformation. Once a neglected hunting terrain, it is now a proud member of the Sabi Sabi Collection. Spanning 4,500 hectares of revived terrain beneath the silhouette of the Drakensberg Mountains, the reserve thrives with free-roaming wildlife. The vision - to create an open wildlife corridor to the Kruger, enabling movement across the endless bends of the Timbavati River - guides every step of the reserve’s conservation efforts.
Overnight: Sandringham N’weti Camp or Sandringham Shisaka Camp - Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Head out for an early morning game drive in open vehicles, stopping for a refreshing coffee break and a chance to listen to the sounds of the bush whilst admiring the landscape. After some down-time and a siesta back at camp, set off again in the late afternoon when the bush comes alive. It’s then sundowners as night falls, before spotlights come out in search of a new range of creatures.
For those wanting a slower, more detailed encounter with the landscape, a guided walking safari is an ideal way to learn about smaller animals, plants, tracks and signs.
Overnight: Sandringham N’weti Camp or Sandringham Shisaka Camp - Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Another day on safari. Enjoy close encounters and gain fresh perspectives that will invigorate your senses and shift your understanding of nature’s beauty forever.
Between activities, relax at camp and take in the views across the reserve towards the Drakensberg Mountains.
Overnight: Sandringham N’weti Camp or Sandringham Shisaka Camp - Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Enjoy a final morning on safari, and after breakfast you will be transferred by private vehicle to the airport for your flight to Cape Town (flight cost not included).
On arrival you will be met and transferred by private vehicle to your hotel in the suburb of Claremont.
The rest of your day is at leisure.
Overnight: The Claremont Boutique Hotel - Breakfast
Today is a free day in Cape Town. Perhaps you want to check out Table Mountain, either by hike or by cable car. Perhaps you want to abseil off it. Perhaps the city’s food scene calls your name, or you would prefer a book beside the pool. Whatever you want, today it can be yours.
Overnight: The Claremont Boutique Hotel - Breakfast
Today after breakfast you’ll be picked up by private transfer and taken to your hotel in Franschhoek, about an hour by car.
Set in one of South Africa’s most celebrated wine valleys, Franschhoek is known for its mountain setting, Cape Dutch heritage, fine food and excellent wine estates. The afternoon is at leisure to begin exploring the village or simply relax into the slower pace of the Winelands.
Overnight: Last Word Franschhoek - Breakfast
You have free rein to do what interests you. Perhaps spend time visiting vineyards to sample local wines, or explore local crafts and galleries. You might spend some time becoming acquainted with local coffee roasting, cheese making or chocolate design. It’s up to you.
Overnight: Last Word Franschhoek - Breakfast
Today you will enjoy a relaxing morning at leisure before heading back to the airport for your onward flight home (flight cost not included).
