Overview

Discover the best of Kenya and Tanzania on this East African small group tour. Journey by specially modified 4x4 vehicles to some of the best safari destinations in Africa and enjoy the landscapes that have inspired our imaginations.

The Serengeti and Masai Mara almost need no introduction, their fame for their amazing animal sightings spreading far and wide. You’ll spend time here to really soak up all they have to offer. You’ll also take in the famed Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Park, prized safari gems in Tanzania’s crown. Not to be outdone, Amboseli National Park in Kenya is known for its large herds of elephants and perhaps the best view in Africa, that of Mount Kilimanjaro. Kenya also offers the wonderful Lake Nakuru and your starting point, the East African hub of Nairobi.

It really is the best of East Africa in one amazing trip.

The remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Nairobi to Masai Mara

Leaving Nairobi after breakfast, you travel towards Kenya's fertile highlands and head down the rift escarpment on the road built by Italian prisoners of war during World War II. On the way spot the charming chapel built at the foot of the escarpment. Pass the impressive Longonot earth satellite station as you head across the valley to Narok; continue your travels across acres of wheat and barley, before reaching the Masai Mara in time for lunch.

The Masai Mara National Reserve is a large wildlife reserve located in southwestern Kenya, bordering Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. It covers an area of about 1,510 square kilometres and is named after the Maasai people who inhabit the area. The reserve is renowned for its diverse wildlife and is home to a vast array of animals including the ‘Big Five’ (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino), as well as numerous other species such as zebras, giraffes, hyenas, wildebeest, and many others. Masai Mara is also known for the annual wildebeest migration (typically between July and October), where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles cross the Mara River in search of fresh grazing.

Following lunch set off on your first game drive, returning to the lodge as the sun sets. (BLD)

Our planning process

Planning travel should be exciting, but it can be exhausting. There is so much information and so little clarity, you often end up more confused than when you began.
